Writer’s Digest September 25, 2023

It’s that lovely time of the year where the days are warm, the nights still cool-ish and it’s light enough to do our 5 at 5 (5kms along the beach at Mooloolaba at 5am) without a torch. And, added bonus, the sun is coming up as we’re having our coffee.

We’ve just passed the equinox so from here it will only get lighter earlier.

Anyways, a quick update on the week… I’m on the downhill run as far as work is concerned and in that place where I’m trying to get everything closed off before I finish on Thursday. I don’t think it’s really hit me yet that next week I won’t need to log on. There is, however, plenty to do before then.

Other than work it was a quiet week and a quiet weekend, although we did get out for lunch on Friday at the Imperial Hotel at Eumundi. In the hinterland just in from Noosa, the Imperial has a fab boho style in keeping with the boho style of the town. They stock the local craft beer (Eumundi lager) and now also have a gin distillery although it was way too early in the day to sample that.

There’s also art everywhere. Love it.

Okay, writing update, I’m well and truly on track to finish this draft by the end of the week. I’m currently sitting just shy of 55,000 words – and wrote a whopping 16,800 over the past week. To get there I wrote before work, at lunchtime, after work, on the train, most of the weekend.

By my reckoning I’d say there are perhaps six scenes to write to close it off, although while I have my ending, and I know (now) “whodunnit” I need to somehow bring it all together.

Watch this space!

Until next time…
