I haven’t done one of these for a while, but I figured that as there’s not going to be a sentence a day this month…
What I wrote…
Not much. Work was pretty messy this week. It was the implementation week for a project I’d been working on in the day job since October last year so the days were full. There’s more to do next week before I go on leave, but the bulk of the work is done. Phew. In any case, there were no words written on my work in progress.
I did, however, get an astrology article I had due written over the weekend. Lately, I’ve found it super hard to switch from novels and blogs to commissioned articles for other people. I suspect it’s because I’m so used to writing in my voice, or my character’s voices. Anyways, it was a big job but it’s done.
What I blogged…
Again not much – although there was plenty that was pre-scheduled for the A-Z series I’m doing. If you haven’t seen it, I’m doing the A-Z of books and writing. One post a day for 26 days in April. You can find the link to all posts published so far here.
Where I commuted…
I did the Brisbane commute for work during the week – catching the 5.47am train into Brisbane city from Palmwoods. It’s a long commute – 1 hr 40mins each way – and one I don’t think I’d like to do too often, but it’s much more pleasant than sitting in the carpark they call the Bruce Highway for the same period of time…if not longer.
What made me go aaah…
The colour of the skies the other night after a day of on again off again rain. Nature is truly beautiful.
Why I love independent bookshops…
Ok, this is just one of the reasons, but you get fabulously cool books like these.
Men in kilts and flamingos – what’s not to love?
Where we lunched…
La Canteena in Maroochydore. I’ve written about it before for the Sunny Coast blog, but it’s the only place to go if it’s a sunny day and you’re having cravings for tacos – as we were.
Fish tacos and beer in a bucket. Saturday lunch sorted.
What opened…
A new coffee shop called Mint up in Buderim Village. The coffee is good, and I was there early, but with a page on their menu devoted to smoothies and special shakes for kids I suspect they could be targetting the yummy mummy and lycra crowd – not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I will, however, give it another shot – just to be sure.
Where I worked…
I had to work on Friday morning but took myself off-site on Friday afternoon to get a start on that article. The day was nice, so it was Rue Bourbon at the top of Buderim Village – the brew with a view.
Where we Sunday drove to…
I finally turned my article in this morning so we took a drive up into the Mary Valley to have a look at Kanangra and Imbil. I’ll blog it on the Sunny Coast site, but the country out there is beautiful.
- Cafe One 2 One
- The Ploughman’s Lunch
We ended up lunching at Cafe One 2 One. Everything was hand-made – including the chutneys. It was cute, cheap, cheerful, super friendly and a lovely surprising find.
What I’m looking forward to…
France! This time next week we’ll be nearing the end of 21 hours flying time. Work’s been mad and I don’t feel ready to go, but I’m looking forward to it so much.
If you want to keep up with our travels, I’ll be boring everyone on Instagram. You can find me at @jotracey. As to where we’re going? Our itinerary is here.
